Infinite 591

The Infinite-591 chair was inspired by my Infinite jewellery collection. This hand made piece has a complex geometry with composite curves bending in two directions as they reach the top portion. This project could not be accomplished using traditional wood bending methods, as they don’t allow wood to bend in two directions due to its selective properties. Therefore, I had to explore other methods and after some research and investigation I managed to create this piece using wood lamination process. The Infinite 591 is made of 591 pre-cut pieces of wood (thus the name) laminated on top of each other to form its unique geometry. The technique I used is somewhat similar to the style that 3D printers print an object by layering. It took me about 4 weeks to assemble this piece and another 4 weeks to prepare its surface and apply final finishes.
